Kerry Concert

Unread post by ButhcerJones » Wed Jun 23, 2004 3:07 pm

I am disappointed that Dave is taking part....I kind of saw it coming...he's been bashing Bush for a while.

Not saying he is not entitled to his opinion, and not saying 'ole George is doing the job....but I am offended when celebrities use their celebirty to push their agenda.

It's my two cents.
This guy's GOOD......

I'm glad to see young people voting, no matter who they vote for, but I get worried when I see people voting for someone because Dave Matthews likes them.

That's the problem....

People shouldn't vote just because the guy you like SAYS to...

George is dropping the ball....no question....but this method does not help make up minds.

Young people should educate themselves and make up their own minds.

the thing is, it happens man. I'm kinda disapointed in that too. But, we just have to hold our head high and realize, that what we believe in, is true, becuase it's what we believe in. I honestly don't give a flying fuck about politics anymore, I'm trying to be a better man and trying to care about people regardless of who is 'over' me. As long as I can help people out, I know I've made a change instead of yelling/telling my ways to people. I just want everyone to be happy, you know? I want to make this big floaty rock a better place.

Yeah.

But young people don't vote.

18 is USUALLY the maturity point. Anyone over the age of 18 who does something just because Dave Matthews is must be

A: Retarded.

&/Or

B: Still living with their mother.

A lot of people over 18 still live with their mother.

I'm an elder, I'm told...

on these boards. I have been voting for exactly 18 years.

I agree with you....people 18 and over should not be influenced....but they are.

We all are, at some point or another. I don't know what has influenced me. My first vote for a president was for George the 41st President. I was influenced by my upbringing. I knew Reagan, therefore Bush.

In a lot of ways, I have not changed since I was 18. Even though I have a baby girl, a wife, a house, own a business, I still gig once or more a week, still pick off songs, and still go to shows. We will be spending the weekend in Connecticut this year to see DMB since we cannot go to SPAC.

What has changed, though, is my thinking and that is because I have taken the time to educate myself. I read. I listen.

This is not a pro-Bush post. I am disappointed in the way this world is. I am concerned for the future of the world...for many of you, too. When many of you are my age, I will be on the way out, handing over the reigns and so on.

We have become such a star-screwing society. It seems the final word rests with people because they are movie stars, musicians, etc.

Take the new Michael Moore movie "Farenheit 9/11". He may have some points, but it is also RIFE with inaccuracies. And, make no mistake about it, this film is lining his pockets!!!!

When I read the Rolling Stone in January with Dave on the cover, I saw this coming. When they announced the Kerry concert, I knew he'd make onto the bill. In other words, it was as predicatable as the fact that, not matter who is in office, many of us will inevitably be disappointed.

Sorry for the rant, everyone.

Yes, I knew someone would say that. A lot of 18 year old who are still in high school or just graduated H.S.

but You know what I mean.
