hardest song to play

Unread post by ryopan » Sun Mar 30, 2003 9:41 pm

i figure there is a thread somewhere for this but my brother asked me what the hardest dave song to play is. im not talking playing and singing, just playing well, throw in the singing and playing if you so desire. its funny how non guitar people dont really have the slightest clue sometimes. my bro thought halloween would be kinda hard. im just tackling tripping billies now cuz it looked kinda bad so i kept putting it off. its not as bad as it looks but its giving me some trouble.

I think The Stone has a tough rhythm to get down. I have no clue how some people sing while playing that

i think most guitar players need, or already have, figured out that the key to learning to sing while playing is to find a few notes that go right with a certain word in the song, and then fitting the other notes or riffs in between them ( ??)....such as the stone, which is a really good example, because there are many SPECIFIC places where the chords meet the words..."I have this cree--PING (31x3xx) suspicion that things here are NOT as they seem"....etc.
I can't believe that we would lie in our graves wondering if we had spent our living days well, and I can't believe that we would lie in our graves dreaming of things that we might have been...

Why does everybody have trouble playing the stone? I think its one of the easiest. Maybe my big fingers aren't as big as everybody elses. Anyway, I think the chorus to Fool to Think is kind of hard. Jkanter does it well. Ants Marching is easiest, LIOG, WWYS, SMTS are even easier. Dave doesn't make his songs hard like he used to.

so much to say is one of the hardest songs to play, and so is LIOG.....dude, I have heard so many people claim they can play these, it's just a joke.......I, who pretty much CAN really play these songs will never say that they are easy songs...they are not easy...stone is very hard...what would you say is hard too...none of dmb songs are easy except for proudest monkey......OK, maybe people can play "their" versions and call it easy, but they are certainly not playing Dave's...

True that, Jason. When someone asks what the hardest song to play is.... you have to look past just the notes he plays... all the little clicks and clacks...very hard to do. Jimi Thing and Say Goodbye are the hardest for me.

Too me they are easy. Mind you I have been playing them for seven years. And I am a perfectionist just like you are ( I heard you bash some people before due to not playing note for note.) I do like to hear Dave Covers played perfectly as well. So much that I play them or try to play exactly like Dave. I have heard some of your covers & I think they are the best on here. But I have heard other people do Dave song's justice as well. Anyway, Peace to ya

I will have no problem doing that. But I must admit, It seems like you are very proud that you can play Dave note for note (for the most part).
And it seems that just because someone else can - it offends you.
Do you feel that it is possible that someone else can play Dave just like yourself....? I dont think you do. But I will give you the pleasure of hearing me when I get to use my roommates computer. I have a laptop and I get mad buzzing when I hook up through Cool edit.

Have a good night

i would say, now this is for playing AND singing, that the jtr verse is a little tough at first..., also, seek up and typical verses, warehouse at first...
thats about all thats on my mind at the time...

not offended, I just think it's bullshit....I laugh about it...I don't want to come off as a dick though(ironically)...just let your playing do the talking, and if you can, i will be really impressed and say wow, you're right...but if not, I will let you know too....nothing antagonizing here...peace.

jason may be a little critical, but hes right, think about it would you want someone telling you that you are good at something, and you really werent, and had to find out the hard way...., or have some criticism as a reason to get better....

i have to side with him on this one, he is one of the top players on the site..., he knows his shit, if you are good, he will give you props, if you suck, he will let you know....

basically the case, even if he comes of a little obtuse, just try to get what hes really trying to say and dont take offense.... i had to learn this as well as others....

peace
