Personal intros to dave songs

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Personal intros to dave songs

Unread post by lordmelt » Sun Mar 30, 2003 4:50 pm

does anyone else do this?

i find myself making up little licks that i use as an added intro to many dave songs, some of them are really phat, i am very proud of my say goodbye, billies, and recently original intros, its a lot of fun, and it surprises people you play for, i was just wondering if anyone else toyed with this...

i will post some of my intros when i am on a faster computer with recording equip.(living out of town where i live takes away the chance of getting fast internet),

Hey, and I thought I was the only one! I have an intro I love to So Much to Say. I start with this chromatic jam I ripped off the Jimi Thing jam of Listener Supported and segue it into SMTS.

I do this intro to the stone that sounds cool, but didnt take a genious to figure out...i do the regular intro starting at the 12th fret, and then after a few times move down a fret or two, then down, down, down, then to the regular riff...sounds cool and is easy....not that impressed are you?

Ive been working on a real easy intro to crash where you hit the bass notes while playing tremalando on the 2nd and 3rd strings, sounds pretty cool.

I explore a lot on how to combine or segue into and out of songs....
I add some other covers in here and there (kinda seems like Dave is doing this more as the years pass, I love it, it's awesome...)

here's a few of mine that I can think of now,....

I have a "dizzy" outro that I use for Nancies (a lil diff from Dave's solo)

Lie In 'the Space Between' Our Graves (I use the long jam segment to incorporate the last chorus of SpcBtwn)

I often use Pig lyrics as the Two Step opening segment

What You Are > Warehouse
Warehouse > What You Are (kinda go back and forth for a bit inbetween)

Spoon > Beauty of Wynona (pretty straight forward)

Granny > Grace is Gone (this one is smooth if you hit it right!)

Lie in Our Graves > Song that Jane Likes (switch on the D)

Raven > Warehouse (stop time intro on this one)

KKJ > Halloween (one of my favs...switch during the 1x3xxx chord)

I enjoyed playing this Encore once:
E:
20 Space Between >
21 T.Billies >
22 Warehouse

I once did Stone > Warehouse, but I can't remember what I did that made it sound good... :?

most recently I incorporated "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" by Pink Floyd into my Minarets/T.Situation transition and such...here's a few examples from my setlists of this...

14 Seek Up(Set the Controls) >
15 T.Situation > IdIkG >
16 Minarets

13 Pig >
14 Minarets(Set the Controls) >
15 T.Situation

I'm currently working on what other Floyd I can sneak in there....possibly some "Fearless" or "Whot's...uh the Deal?".....

I will be able to record this summer, can't wait to share some of these...

well, you can bet i will be waiting to hear some of that,
another cool thing i do is a jimi thing into bartender...i take that b power chord in the chorus into the bartender chorus, you have to do bartender in standard then, but, still works...

Sounds pretty cool, methinks.
