Mayer and Paul Simon

Unread post by ledzepp4l » Thu Jun 17, 2004 5:14 pm

Just wondering if anyone saw John Mayer and Paul Simon on TV last night. It was some thing presented by Bailey's. I didn't see the entire show and wanted to get opinions on it. The part I saw was bad because the Jackson off American Idol played Bass.

Has Dave ever played with Simon? If not that would be awesome to see.

Paul did join dmb at a Jazz Festivle a few years ago. Recording was forbidden, so only really bad IEMs exist. They played (of course) Me and Julio Down By the School Yard. I think it was 2001, if not, it was 2002. I might still have it on here (but I deleted most of my IEMs when they band didn't allow them).

Mayer playing electric licks over Simon's acoustic was definitely worth seeing, but other than that, nothing too exciting.

Damn, i would have loved to have seen that.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I don't like Mayer's albums at all- too overproduced, sounds more like a synthesized pop album. But when he's solo and it's all cut down, he's really impressive.

For example, his Last Call with Carson Daly performance tonight was excellent.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

I admire your integrity, I no longer burn or distribute my IEM's but I couldn't part with them. If it helps, I don't really listen to them anymore. My feeling is if the band is kind enough to allow us to tape them then we must obey their wishes when it comes to IEM's.

I confess, I have 2 IEMs still. I have Light Lift Me Up and Dressed In Black. I just love the tunes so much. I also am pretty shure they will never see the light of day. If they ever do, I am getting rid of them.
