DmbFanJason wrote:I could be wrong about the 95 version of crazy; it's a version where Dave says, "I'll play this one because I really like the chords." He sounds young and sang like he did in 95. He made a extreme vocal progress from 96-98, he sounds way different in 95 than in 99. At the same show after Crazy he plays 41 claiming that it was really new, which meant that the latest of that version was 1996. Also, on the download file it says 95, but I know that doesn't mean a whole lot. Dave admits to being a little drunk too. Some other band was playing and he was just asked to play a few songs. I don't think that DMBalmanac is the answer to everything hcole, as I have found the setlists screwed up at least twice on that site, and I've only visited that site about 10 times. So what were you saying?

the show you are talking about it 6-3-96, if you go to antsmarching.org you can d/l that show and look at the setlist. I wonder tho, how long he had been toying with the song.

I wonder where he got the weird chords from.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I've got a version of that, its on 3/14/99. Very sweet version as well, i believe santana plays with d+t on that one. If anyone hasn't heard that show you should check it out. i just wonder if it was recorded
That's John The Revelator. It's a cover, not the same song as JTR.
really? I have the storytellers version of John The Revelator. I could have sworn it was the same song as JTR on Folsom, etc. I'll have to double check on that though.
They are the same song dude, the title was shortened and that's about the only difference. sweet song though, i like the d+t version better.

John the Revelator - main lyrics

Come fill me up,
Oh when I'm dry and cold, when i'm emptied out.
With voice I shout
Oh when my words come, listen there upon.
I play my cards
But it's by the grace of God that I play my cards at all.
Come fill me up;
Oh, fill me when I'm empty, when I'm all dried out.

Now rain, rain, rain down on me;
Again, and again,
Rain down on me.

Oh I see it now;
When I saw you standing there like an angel you came down
To fill me up.
Oh fill me now, oh darkness and light fill me now

Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Wrote the book of the book of seven seas
Oh rain, rain, rain down on me
again, and again
Oh, rain down on me

Oh I see it now
Oh tell them all, tell them all dying up and drink the blood
I see it now
It's like the devil and the lord go dancin on and on

Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Wrote the book of the book of seven seas

Oh rain, rain, rain down on me
Again, and again
Oh, rain down on me

Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Whose that writng? John the Revelator
Wrote the book of the seven seas.

JTR - main lyrics

I drink you up...
For every drop of you is sacred
Every drop I drink you up

You fill my cup
The way you laugh eyes of a child
Lean on me you fill me up
You make me love
So unconditionally generous
To me you give me love and break my heart
Slip, you fall, I pick you up and dust you off
You break my heart

Rain, Rain, Rain down on me
Again and Again,
Rain down on me and

Take all you want
For what is mine is yours
No better use is there for what I've got
Take all you want
And only hope can I you won't deny
Your love me for my love

No don't cry if it's too high
I'll lift you up, we'll make it, make it
When I was so so tired
You come along to wake me, wake me
Time and Time, again and again
With a smile you save me child

Oh..Oh..Oh
Rain, Rain, Rain down on me
Again and Again,
Rain down on me

Look we play our cards and
I question by the grace of what
Do we play our cards at all
Come fill me up
Oh fill me love when I'm empty
When I'm all dried up

No dont cry if it's to high
I'll lift you up, we'll make it, make it
When I was so so tired
You came along to wake me, wake me
Time and Time, again and again
With a smile you save me child

Rain, Rain, Rain down on me
Again and Again,
Rain down on me

Rain, Rain, Rain down on me
