hi everybody....
i was just curious as to what kinds of "practice schedules" you guys all have out there....i know it's probably pretty broad but i just wanted to see what other players are doing in terms of "getting better."
thanks

Re: Practice?
When I first started, I made myself practice a min. of 1 hour a day. But it always turned into 2 or 3. But I always made sure I set aside at least an hour.snapoffmode wrote:hi everybody....

ahh yes, i usually play for MAYBE a couple of hours during the week...but i make up for it on the weekends usually playing 4-5 hours a day...nothing like playing on the beach...except for the retarded sunburn i got with the guitar strap going down my back...i'll never do that again

yeah, most of my practice now comes from playing songs I want to learn...or jamming on ones my friends are learning...I need more structure I think. I practice scales maybe once every two weeks, but that's about it...

As long as I practice every day, the amount of time does not matter.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Whenever I am able to, I grab a guitar. If I am watcihng a movie or a show, I normaly have a guitar. If someone watches with me, I just bring my les paul unplugged. When I am at work, I tink aobut playing or music 1/3 of the time. Hell, my les paul is in my lap right now. I was just playing it about 50 seconds ago. Music is my life. If I could, I would go to work with one strapped on me all day. One weekend to a family reunion (well, I was (like I am always done in a big crowd) pushed to the side, and left out of the picture. I was on my own the whole time, wondered around, mainly and I didn't have my guitar, I was really bored and pretty down.)
I play as much as I can, which can be hours.

I'm pretty much the same as Ranting Thespian there. I think it can be considered an addiction... But a good one. I'll just play any chance I get... During commercials... Hours of jamming everyday and an occasional new song. But I don't really make a schedual... Sometimes I'll make a point to learn a song or a solo by the weekend so I can jam with some people or something, but that's about it.
