Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

I remember when I heard warehouse (back int he days when i was a beginner) and I wanted to learn it so bad. learned it and was like im teh shit.

Get a warm-up going, I play all along the watchtower when i first get on guitar. Then start doing whatever is your style.. get faster... longer gaps between frets.. (like 5----20)

get it so you can switch easily on ANY chord including 512x2x

heh i never had lessons myself

any songs involving big stretches or quick chord transitions will help ya. Just try to stay away from really basic songs or when you approach a tough one you will panic.

Learn the scales. All of them.

Learn them backwards and forwards. Up and down.

Basically what you want to do is be able to know that a Gmaj scale is G-Am-Bm-C-D-Em-F#7 and from there you know what scale to play when a song comes up. Really will help with finger speed and knowing where to be at a certain time.

Someone recently asked about Warren Haynes' solo during "Cortez, The Killer" in Central Park. He was playing in Em because that's what the song was in ... but if you don't know the variations of the Em scales then it's tough to free-form during solos.

At least, this is what I'm told. I'm still learning :)
