I think it depends on the context. In this case I'm going to have to agree with del. You just gotta let things slide sometimes. If I was really a homophobe or a racist, of which I'm neither, than go ahead and take offense to it. Otherwise it's no more than harmless slang.

although i agree with del on this one, we all have to realize that we can all have our own opinions, and we can all say whatever we want to say too

so if person A says something to person B and person B takes offense, that is an opinion they are allowed to take - the same way the person A was allowed to say it because its their free speech

Also, you could respect people rather than just say to them: fuck off. Caring about people is a good thing, if you don't you won't have any friends or close relatives. Just please, use a less offense word to my sexuality. Fag for a ciggarete (in Britain) was dervied completely differently than meaning gay/homosexual. The word there was derived from the buddle of sticks that are burned, and ciggaretes butts are just peice of paper that pile up. Now fag for homosexuality came from that's what people would burn homosexuals with, and so the slang started as: let's go burn some fags. They sprouted from bundles or stucks, but went two different ways.

Anyways, it does hurt, please don't use it here if you care about my feelings at all. (if we didn't care about people's feelings here, we would be up there with antsmarching, nancies, the horrid Bridge . . . and the old Typicalsituations messege board).
