Cat Stevens' "Moonshadow" Cover

Unread post by GreedylilPig » Sun Jun 06, 2004 7:05 pm

Song: Moonshadow

Original Artist: Cat Stevens

Link: Moonshadow [2.6 MB]

Comments: I learned and recorded this today. It was always my favorite Cat Stevens song. Any input is greatly appreciated. I used a Martin D-28 and an EV N/D267 mic. I spontaneously made up the little solo at the break before the bridge. I also mixed in some blending vocals on the last 2 choruses. Thanks for listening.

Lyrics:
Oh, I'm being followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow

And if I ever lose my hands, lose my plough, and lose my land,
Oh if I ever lose my hands, oh if... I won’t have to work no more.
And if I ever lose my eyes, if my colours all run dry,
Yes if I ever lose my eyes, oh if... I won’t have to cry no more.

Oh, I'm being followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow

And if I ever lose my legs, I won't moan, and I won't beg,
Yes if I ever lose my legs, oh if... I won't have to walk no more.
And if I ever lose my mouth, all my teeth, north and south,
Yes if I ever lose my mouth, oh if... I won’t have to talk...

Did it take long to find me? I asked the faithful light.
Did it take long to find me? And are you gonna stay the night?

Oh, I'm being followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Moonshadow, moonshadow

Hey great job man! I actually recommend Cat Stevens' greatest hits to everyone as cool mellow acoustic music. Too bad he's islamic now. Your voice sounded great, the only thing I would change would be the tone. The guitar needs to sound a little brighter, it sounds a little muddied right now, but very nice guitar work, very smooth.

I was gonna say...'I'm sure you've posted this before!'. Then I realised it's quite old and I didn't comment the first time I heard it.

I really enjoyed it, the guitar sounded sweet and your voice fits this song perfectly.
Nice work Brian.
