what are the sharps and flats in the key of Em? is it just an F# or is that totally wrong?

the key of Em is the same as Gmaj. to find the scale of Xm, find what major scale X is the 6th note of.

G A B C D E F# = Gmaj scale
E F# G A B C D = Em scale (aka E Aeolian)

all I did was play the notes of an Em scale and noticed that F# was the only sharp

I don't think that works very well, because what if by remembering that, you think there is an F instead of an F#?

that is a way to remember what keys have what sharps and flats.
F - 1 flat
C- all natural
G - 1 sharp
D - 2 sharps
A - 3 sharps
E - 4 sharps
B - 5 sharps
Duffman says a lot of things. -Mike
