I'm not sure if DADGAD is really considered open, but I absolutely love the sound of it. Here's a song I recorded in DADGAD: http://www.patmcinnis.com/oneday.mp3

ah pat, I had a feeling that one day was DADGAD, any tabs yet???

and regarding the topic, open E, EBEG#BE has a nice sound as does open D DADF#AD. Its really easy to go from DADGAD to open D, just lower your G an extra half step

Rusted Root's Cat Turned Blue is in DADGAD as well. Learn that song, it's really cool.

Or if you can manage raised B tuning, go to drop A tuning and it rules.

Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead

some of these crazy ones are WAY too limiting for me to ever mess around with.

one of the most beautiful tunings i've ever heard is EAEEBE

The Goo Goo Dolls and Soundgarden (superunknown album) use a lot of open tunings

^ Sounds familiar. Great song.

I mess around with DADADD all the time. I find myself coming up with Irish/Celtic/Folk melodies. But I'm a nerd like that.

Red Balls will give you wings.

Nice avatar.

I like open E since you can use the capo to change keys with ease.

Sometimes I get scared f*cking around w/open tunings because I'm like, "do I even know how to play the guitar in STANDARD?" lol.

If you've got a spare axe go for it and just eff around.

If your into them at all, you can learn a bunch of Rolling Stones songs in open G: DGDGBD. Start Me Up, Brown Sugar and Honkey Tonk Women to name a few. They sound cool and are really easy to learn.
