First DMB Concert!

Unread post by saiyasam » Sun May 30, 2004 1:57 am

Hey, I'm new here. I'm going to my first DMB concert in August. I'm so pumped, I can barely control myself and it's only May.

I was wondering, is there anything I should know about DMB concerts? Like what to bring, what not to do, etc?

Thanks!

well, don't bring much. They might have to take some things or send you back to your car to put them away (chains on wallets and such). Also, there will be people drunk and high everywhere . . . if you are on the lawn, someone could be peeing by your blanket, that's what happened at my first concert. In all 3 of my concerts, I have had some problem with someone wasted around me, or teeny boppers screaing into your ear, during the song, and won't stop for the whole concert. How I wish I could just be in an area with people several yards away.

Welcome to DMBTABS first off, Dont get discouraged about what Ranting said(to solve your problem though Ranting, get seats next time! Seats and Lawn are totally two different experiences! I guess its a matter of being in that place were someone pee'd on you at the wrong time.)
'saiyasam' its always a great time when you experience DMB! have fun. About bringing stuff...well if your planning on tailgating...as most folks do, bring the usual. When entering the venue gates theres things that arent allowed such as Knives...ect. Just use common sence! oh and its possible to get a camera in, but dont bring one unless your like 8 rows in front of stage.

Expect to see a lot of meathead fratboys who don't give a shit about the music. Expect to hear these meatheads yell "CRAAAASSSSHHH!!!" every 2 mins. But most of all expect to hear some kickass music, and have a good time

get a new phrase!
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I

show 1, 2000, lawn seats , guy peed right next to it, got beer splatered on me. Then they played Grace Is Gone, and someone was around me and said, "what is this shit?" I said, it's Grace Is Gone, a song from their new album. He then said,"yeah, kewl, good song." Sigh.

Show 2, 2002 (the 2001 was cancelled), seats, 2 drunk people next to me, then tenny boppers right behind me. They would scream, and then I turned around, and told them to stop. Then I went back to the music. My cousin Brian was with me, and he looked at them after I talked to them. The 4 girls were mocking me, then continued to scream. I had to keep my finger in my left ear half the time, so their peircing screams wouldn't blow out my ear drum. They did a GREAT If I Had It All, though, the best I've heard.

Show 3, 2003. The people around us were nice, but then afterwards, omg, mob in the parking lot, worse the two years before. People were driging drunk, burning trash cans, bottles everywhere. My god, I was somewhat scared at one point.

This year, lawn again. My bro gets the tickets, and even though he goes to 3 other shows, he always stiffs me with the lesser ticket to Alpine. :x

I hope you have better experiences. I go back because it is good music, and they put one hell of a show.

if you play guitar and you're planning to tailgate before the show, or spend the night, you might want to bring it. there are always lots of people who'll play some dave with you, and lots of girls who will be all over it. but obviosly don't bring it to the actual show (just stating the obvious, just incase)

other than that, bring extra boxers, cuz you very well might have an orgasm. especially if you have good seats

My mom has been there when it rains, and that is hell, she says.

But, the music part, and the sound, and view, it's great. Just try to focus on that.

dude, don't even go with any kind of negative expectations

if something happens that sucks, big deal...you're at a DMB concert! don't be bothered by little things and you'll have a good time no matter what you do or where you are
B+P by offer only...thank you

thanks for the tips. i know i'm gonna try to have as much fun as possible.

i wonder what the chances of dmb playing all my favorite songs that night. unlikely huh?

btw, i didn't know people tailgate before dmb concerts. i know people do it for sporting events, but is this a thing people do in general before concerts? or is it just exclusively a dmb thing.

People don't like it when you yell out "Play Your Body Is a Wonderland". Trust me.
