Current Fav DMB/D+T Show
Just wanted to know what ya'll's current favorite dmb/d+t shows are.
As for myself, right now it's 1994-10-15 (absolutely awesome if you've never heard it, it's kinda short because they were actually opening for phish but it's still awesome... listen to say goodbye & osw specifically)

So far my favorite D&T set is 3.14.99 - the Headwaters Benefit and closer of the 1999 tour. Carols Santana and Bob Weir both stopped in for a bit and the Dave Speak is priceless. AMAZING set!
As for DMB I REALLY enjoyed the recording for 4.7.02 - the first night in Boston. I think that was the first time You Never Know was played but all the songs were really tight and powerful. It was just a really good listen - my favorites are the DIDO and Heartbeat Jam - PNP - Rapunzel. Goooood stuff.

Everyone always says this show because of the guests and whatnot....blah blah blah. It is also one of the most widely spread D&T show. I think it's a great show, but by no means was the best of that tour. THE BEST D&T SHOW OF 1999 WAS WEST POINT, 1/30/99. HANDS DOWN. I am NOT saying this only becuase I was there. Take a look at the setlist: http://www.nancies.org/dmbta/reviews/013099.html . Crazy, Angel from Montgomery, If I Had a Boat, Say Goodbye opener, #41, LIOG, Two Step, Passion/Stop Time Intro to Warehouse....AND THE ENCORE!!! #40, PFWYG, Typical, Nancies.KevinGTArch wrote:So far my favorite D&T set is 3.14.99 - the Headwaters Benefit and closer of the 1999 tour. The dave speak was amazing also because it was at West Point. It was the night of West Point's prom(or somethign like that) and everyone was dressed up in their uniforms and girls in dresses and shit. Dave talked about how he had to wear a uniform back in South Africa to school and how all the girls looked great in them.......and then mentioned how great young girls look in their school-girl outfits.
The reason this show doesn't get the press it deserves in the DMB community is because there wasn't any taping allowed at the concert. There is one source out there that was stealthed and it is NOT THAT GREAT quality You can check it out at Ants Marching, they have it there. It's an amazing show and my vote for best D&T(of 99 at least)...peace

Fine, fine maybe a lot of people like 3.14.99 because of the guests but to me they were just a highlight. Besides, they only had guests on three songs - Bob Weir on Watchtower and Carlos Santana on JTR and Love of My Life. I have yet to hear the West Point show you're speaking of but you have to admit the songs on 3.14.99 were TIGHT. There was a serious energy coming out from D&T...possibly because it was the end of the tour less the VH1 Storytellers they did a little later.
Two Step was a fantastic opener that night which really set the pace. They also had really great versions of Lie In Our Graves, Proudest Monkey which is GREAT acoustic with Tim, John The Revelator, Too Much, and many others. I don't think it's necessarily fair to judge how "great" a show is by the rarities they play up. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to hear Angel From Montgomery and Pay For What You Get as much as anyone but this show had it's share - I'll Back You Up, The Song That Jane Likes (maybe less rare), Digging A Ditch (new at the time), and a great run of If I Had A Boat.
Bottom line, it may be "trendy" to like it but there's no denying it was a damn good show.
