so i got my new guitar, acoustic electric takamine 12 string..
i have a question..
what does the notch filter do?

yea, its a little knob on the pickup controls, where the volume controls and such are, and you can turn it on and off, there's not much of a difference in sound either way you turn it, so i'm not really sure what its for...

My fishman prefix preamp also has the notch filter, and I've never really been sure as to what its function is either. Although I suspect something to do with feedback resistance.

i notch filter "notches" out certain frequencies. it's like an EQ but a little more harsh on the whatever frequecy it's "notching" out.
funny i just had a class on this stuff last semester so you can see my amazement seeing a q on it. it's weird when you can apply school to real life.
