just letting you know before hand, i did mess up about 2 minutes in because i forgot what i was doing lol. also, i didnt sing because im scared to know what my voice actually sounds like and i didnt play everything i was playing. i just played stuff so that people could get a general idea of how i play each riff in the song. if you hear any distortion its due to the fact that my mic is stupid and it cost $10. this is played with my godin out of a 15 watt marshall.

If you're trying to play the song like dave:

I think the notes in your intro are a little off...you may want to check the tab or listen to a d/t version of the song to get the right way down. Also, from listening, it seems like you need to get your strumming going a little more. It's a little choppy in some areas. ie: The individual notes in the beginning sound a little forced. They dont really flow the way they should. You've got the basics down on this one for sure. Just a little practice and you should be straight.

Good job, and keep em comin.

i know the strumming needs work but im not sure i know what you mean by sounding forced... also - i learned this a long time ago and just decided to record it, if the notes are wrong its probably because i found it before i came here... i decided to look at the tab here and it said there was a note (3E) and i never saw that, also i play the D open in the chorus instead of on the 2nd fret for the 1st note after the D chord... also just how i saw it on a tab before here.

When I say forced I mean tight. Like it sounds like you're playing tense to me. Its just something that'll come the more you play it, pretty much. And to clarify I'm mainly referring to the intro/verse when I say that. Again though, good job. Keep on postin.

To further comment on the strumming (just trying to help), are you using any upstrokes? It sounds like you're playing the whole riff with down strokes. You got all the notes down pat. I had trouble with the up down technique at first, try turning your pick a little sideways, that helped me a lot.

yeah definitely sounds forced all around. here's what i suggest... slow it down incredibly and put some FEELING into it. because it's such a powerful fun song; i mean listen to it live and stuff... hear how he wails on that "woukld you not like to be... sittin on top of the world with your legs hanging free..."

i dont think there's a real need to point out certain partso f the song that need help as i think it's been hit pretty well by everyone else... SOUL POWER man.. everyone should listen to jimi hendrix ...

i need to work on the x-x-2-4-x-x part the most.. otherwise i guess its the D chord giving me the most trouble. i learned down up down but i guess thats wrong, ill have to practice more. the notes wont be that hard to fix.

I don't think the down-up-down is wrong. You just need to add some more mute strumming in between the chords and notes and a little trapping. Anyway, you're doing great. I had a hard time with that song at first. I could never get it to sound right. LIOG and Jimi Thing were my first dmb tunes.
