I would probably get a custom Martin very similar to the DM3MD (but not quite). I would include most of the HD-28V style and appointments (because that's my favorite stock Martin) with a three-piece back (with the different colored middle, I love that. Maybe not paduak but something similar).

I would get a custom Taylor 12 String with 3-piece AAA grade Cocobolo back and sides and AAA-grade engleman spruce top, gothic vine fretboard inlay. Ebony or Cocobolo headstock. Maple Binding. Florentine Cut-away. Jumbo or Grand Auditorium Body un sure which one. Abalone Rosette and Abalone Edging around the front back and inbeteen the wedges of Cocobolo and down the fretboard on the body. Inlays on the bridge. Gold Locking Tuners. Can't think of anything else...

d-28 or d-35. The d-28 sounds great, but I love my d-35. will cost a lot less than a 914ce

I'm still deciding between the D-35 and 914ce. I'm leaning towards the Taylor though.

i'd want to get both. the 914ce and hd28v.

914ce for when i'm playing with a band. hd28v for the more solo stuff.

hey, just like dave. not that i'm trying to copy him or anything. or i am, but just denying it.

Have you tried other taylors, martins, or any other brands (such as guild and gibson)? There are tons out there. I also have to say, I have never been fond of the 914ce. The look is too flashy, too high tone, too crisp, not full enough. I know I am going to get some people saying I am crazy or something, and tons of people defending it (no problem with people doing that, I just know it will happen). I just don't like guitar. I do like his 714. There is something about the sound of that one. Also, it's got less flashy stuff on it, more pure guitar. The guitar I like the most out of Dave's is the W65 12-String. I also just liked the sound and look of the Chet, and the ones I've played, very nice, not going to get one, but still nice. Oh, I also LOVE his custom taylor baritone acoustic.

Man, someone poses the question "what guitar would you get if you could have any guitar" and everyone responds Martin this or Taylor that. I'm not putting down their products but I thought more people would rather get a custom, hand made guitar where they were involved in picking out all the woods and materials that are going to be used.

Maybe it's just me, who knows. Where's Oahu at, I'm sure we're together on this.

To each their own.

didn't I just say that ;) lol. I mentioned how I like Guilds and I love Gibson electrics. I would never want a DM3MD. I wouldn't want a guitar modled for someone else.
