I'm sure he's kidding y'all.

Ever since I heard Grey Street, it gets me. It makes me think of my mother. The lyrics on the Busted Stuff version describe her to a T. I wish sometimes that there is more I can do for her. All I can do is love her as she loves me, but I don't know that that's enough. She is so convinced that things will always be so dismal and bad for her. She can't "get out of this place" ya know? Anyway, that song gets me everytime if I actually listen to it. And yes, when I sings and play it I get a little emotional.

If that's true, it's pretty amazing that Thom can pull off a vocal performance like that in only two takes... those falsetto's are pretty tough.
Damn.

Baby is kinda emotional for me as well, as is something in the way she moves by james taylor.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Fake Plastic Trees is a powerful song to play and sing if you can really connect with the lyrics. Thom is the man, and I agree he must have been in the zone to hit that song perfect on the second try.
