if you get a solid wood top guitar with a black finish.. or some other colored finish, is going to not sound as good as the same guitar that has a wood finish?

I would say the finish itself isn't going to make it sound any different, but the fact that the manufacturer opted to make that guitar black usually has at least a little bit to do with their being some kind of flaw in the grain of the wood, and depending on what price tier we are talking about, it could have little to no or little to some difference in the overall quality of the wood.
"Natural finish" guitars usually cost a bit more because they have to be pickier about the wood's visual appearance, but whether that makes it sound better is subjective at best.

Depends, if you are buying an acoustic guitar then I suggest not getting anything with a laminated top (especially on nylon string guitars), because it tends to deaden the natural sound of the wood, thus giving it a cheaper, "less full" tone, other then that, finish really doesn't effect the tone at all.
