Solo Jackpot!

Unread post by Jer1400 » Tue May 25, 2004 7:47 pm

I came across this site: http://guitar.about.com/library/bl100greatest.htm

Check it out. Most of the tabs contain not only the solos, but the complete songs, and I've found them to be quite accurate. :)

Little Wing (Jimi) is sooo cool. In my opinion the stuff before the words is the perfect thing to play at a guitar shop while tryin out a guitar or amp.

the first solo I ever learned is #26, Smells Like Teen Spirit, they obviously weren't judging on difficulty, but I agree that that may not need apply.

I'm not even sure they're in order from the best-down. I think Freebird's 6:00-something-minute solo would have been higher if they had been. And All Along The Watchtower's two solos (Jimi's ver.), too. What do you think?

This lists are so subjective, tough to "rank" so many good songs.

Thanks for the link though, coolness.

It's not an awful list, but I don't think Kirk Hamet is as good as they make him out to be. Plus it seems like their list is as much about riffs as it is about the solo.

Sacriligious as it may be, I like SRV's version of Voodoo Chile better than Jimi's. I'm surprised Eddie Van Halen's "Poundcake" solo with the drill wasn't on there :)

funny, i just came across that site yesterday.

anyone know every single solo? or half? or some of them?

i know... 0. But, I just got my first electric guitar last week, so I'm gonna start knowing some of them soon. Maybe my goal should be to learn all of them. hmm...
