Recomendations: 4/8 track digital

Unread post by c_tietze » Thu May 13, 2004 9:19 am

Any recomendations relative to a digital 4 or 8 track?

Would you only consider digital if you already had a pre-existing recording setup on your computer?

Any input would be nice. I'm looking to record ideas for songs, etc., and I want to know if it is even worth getting a digital recorder if I'm not setup on a PC yet.

Thanks,

CJT

IMO the only reason you should consider getting an external 4/8 track is if you like to record on location. They're great if you want to pick up and go somewhere to record.
Ultimately a usb/firewire interface combined with some good recording software is the way to go. You get far more freedom.
Another thing to consider is if your going to make CDs your going to have to get the recordings onto the computer anyway and with those external recorders it add's another cumbersome step.
Basically if your serious about recording and you don't anticipate recording in lots of locations, stay away from the 4/8 track digitals.
