70's Tabs

Unread post by jsgksu » Tue Mar 11, 2003 11:40 pm

Alright, so I really like 70's (and other older) music and Ive decided I wanna start learning how to play stuff like Zepplin, Hendrix, Beatles, Eagles, Clapton, Skynyrd, Neil Young, Floyd, Steve Miller, Tom Petty, etc. I wanna learn the real popular songs of those generations but I guess my problem is I cant really find a good tab site. So far Ive learned stairway, over the hills and far away, needle and the damage done, and Im starting on purple haze. Can anyone tell me maybe some classic songs I should learn and where to go to get the tabs, Thanks.

The Dutchman by Steve Goodman. Not really popular, but I think it was in the 70's. If you can play it like he can then your my new hero.
Don't know where a tab of it is. If anyone does, let me know.

HA I *love* classic rock. Let me thing of some greats off the top of my head... there are of course good "guitar songs" that I personally like, so someone else may very well likely give a totally different list

Layla - Derek & the Dominoes
Ramblin Man - Allman Brothers
Jessica - Allman Brothers
Whipping Post - Allman Brothers
Sunshine of Your Love - Cream
Crossroads - Cream (barrlehouse baby! whooo!)
White Room - Cream
Over the Hills and Far Away - Zep
Fool In The Rain - Zep (not really a "guitar" song but you can fake it)
Radar Love - Golden Earring
Hair of the dog - Nazareth
Paranoid - Sabbath
Iran Man - Sabbath
Stranglehold - Nugent
Listen to the Music - Doobie brothers
Time for me to Fly - REO Speedwagon
Freebird - Skynyrd
Flirtin with Disaster - Molly Hatchet
Wish you were here - Floyd
The Joker - Steve Miller
Free Fallin - Petty
Refugee - Petty

OLGA has good basic tabs tabs for all these songs... of course, theyre not written by people like Mr Kanter so everything wont be 100% accurate. You'll have plenty to go with, though. As for songs with super long solos (Stranglehold, Layla, Freebird) you'll just have to imporvise.
