Why doesn't the band play Trippin' Billies live anymore?

Unread post by charliemike » Thu Apr 29, 2004 9:45 am

I've seen two DVDs so far and looked at the set list for others and with the exception of Red Rocks, I don't see them playing that song anymore.

Anyone know if there's a reason why?

The DVD's aren't an accurate representation of what the band plays now - they're a representation of what some marketing guru thinks young people will buy a DVD for.

you'd have to look at a tour overall. There aren't any 2003 official releases (except CP, but that's just one show), nor any 2002. They played Billies a good number of times both years.

I was at the Home Depot Center last year(7-27-04) 4th row DEAD center :D and they played TB as the encore. Everyone in like the first ten rows was jumping up and down throughout the whole song. It was fuckin amazing; so much energy and it seemed like everyone was a HUGE DMB fan. It reminded me of the House Of Pain video. "Jump up jump up and get down", but with much better music :D .

they still do billies. Those DVD's dont have a great representation of DMB's work, if u look at them they have similar setlists.

Funny how different people's perceptions are. I've seen Billies the past three shows in a row (not including D&F). I would have gladly traded it for a kick ass Ants or Two Step at the Gorge last Summer ( they did both those songs the first night and I was at the second...).

They did an ants intro at 9/9/03. carter started on the drum, and i was like "THEY ARE NOT OPENING WITH ANTS!"

sure enough...nice long funk intro and full on ants. i'd rather see ants then billies close a show IMO.

Billies is a staple that doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon and it's still a classic!!
