I'll be stoked if they don't use a producer. You know that Lillywhite produced one or two of U2's albums and then they sent him away and said they don't need any help. Think about it, dmb has been touring for soo long, its about fucking time they run the whole show themselves

I believe this album will kick. Or at least that's what I'm hoping. True, Everyday was mostly studio-written, but that was basically Glenn and Dave. The other band members even had sheet music written FOR THEM when they got there. If you've seen that Charlie Rose episode, then watch for the look on Boyd's face when he sees sheet music in the studio. He's like "Great, what the fuck?!" I love it when Rose puts Carter on the spot in front of everybody and asks, "Do you think this is some of your best work?" Carter's like, 'Well what the fuck do I say? Um, yeah, it is!'. All those musicians are pretty damn talented so I'd be surprised if this album sucked musically. I am very excited to see what Dave can accomplish in a spontaneous environment with the band. Look at Some Devil; a lot of that was written in a fairly short amount of time and I'd go out on a limb and say that that was some of his best songwritting. Without Lillywhite there to badger the band to do 100 takes of the same song and make it an agonizing thing (which is what Steve Harris has implied), I doubt that this album will become a burden like Lillywhite Sessions did. And if what you guys have said is true, that the album will be a lot about Carter, then how can it be too bad. Fuck, I'm REALLY looking forward to it. Too bad Tim won't be on it though. Still, this one should be really good. I hope!

I've heard more bootleg MP3s of Dave Concerts than I care to remember and 99% of them sounded like crap.Ranting Thespian wrote:Also about only seeing one live show, I only see one concert of them a year. What you do is get taper ones. If you want to hear the jams live, they are all recorded, and you can get your hands on them pretty easily now a days.
I'm an audio snob. If it doesn't sound good, I'm not going to listen to it.

I know what you mean, in fact there is research out there that says people will change the tv channel faster if there is a problem with the audio, before they would if it was a problem with the video. But, yah, I love Storytellers, but won't listen to it, the the audio is just so bad.charliemike wrote:I've heard more bootleg MP3s of Dave Concerts than I care to remember and 99% of them sounded like crap.

um.. i can only suppose that only good things can come from the lack of a producer.. i mean, if its just the band in the studio, then there will be nobody telling them what to do, regardless of whether the band likes it or wants to. this way, everything on the new album will be material that the band enjoys playing doncha think?
also, it was an RCA representative that dissapproved of the lillywhite sessions when he heard it...maybe since the band will be independent of all that, all the material will just be stuff that the band was comfortable coming up with...i think that if this studio process is painstaking..then,, the band is the one that's the problem. but dave said the LWS and the process of it wasn't a result of the band, it was a result of the environment.. so hopefully the band isn't losing any of its chemistry and they'll be free to unleash everything that THE BAND enjoys on this new record.

I think each and every song written during the unreleased Lillywhite sessions is better than anything put on Everyday. Good songwriting, yes, but Ballard took to the potential of the band and squandered; I can't stand him. Outside of the songwriting (things like Everday and When the World Ends), everything about Everday was mediocre and chopped.
I don't care who they use as long as it's not Ballard!

Stay with me, safe and ignorant.
