i know a lot of you might prefer rosewood, but if you had to pick between the 2, which would you pick?

Don't know much about KOA, but from what I've heard, I don't like Walnut. I remember reading in the Taylor magazine about walnut and id didn't appeal to me too much.

I really have no clue. I remember reading about their walnut series about a year ago, and for some reason I didn't like them.

Tried a JC-16WE today back to back with an HD-28, some gibsons, Larivee and taks.

While other guitars couldn't compete, the HD-28 only sounded better than the walnut guit when strumming hard. I'm a big fan of the HD-28 (have owned an 810 too) but that JC-16we was the shit!

Big vote for walnut. Haven't been impressed by koa's sound or price (but it is pretty!!)

Walnut and koa are both beautiful, but Koa is only found in Hawaii, and I am all for allowing it to not die out just to make guitars.

This is totally subjective but the best sounding Martin I've played was a Koa/spruce combo. Had a lot of wonderful overtones.

I picked koa because it ussauly looks better than walnut. Walnut can look really good or really bad, koa ussauly looks good unless its the brownish dull kind. From what I've seen Black acacia is a really popular alternative to both woods:
