Unread post by DT » Tue Apr 06, 2004 4:15 pm

my friend and I are gonna be playing an open mic next monday, we checked it out yesterday and its a really chill lounge atmosphere with not a lot of people, i think almost all of our friends are showing up though... looks like i'm gonna play Long Black Veil solo and then my friend will play The Who- Drowned, and then we're gonna get together and play Kielbasa-->The History of Tenacious D and then hes gonna get on the piano they have there and im going to write a guitar accompaniment to play while he sings and plays Piano Man.

should be sweet

so it went pretty well.. our setlist ended up being

me: Long Black Veil
mike: love rain on me (the who)
me: The Stone
mike: Drowned (the who)

Kielbasa-->The History of Tenacious D
Piano Man

i completely screwed up in the middle of the stone and completely forgot the words to the second verse.. i actually stopped playing for a second i got so flustered, and then remembered and started again... The tenacious D songs were hilarious, we had so many tenacious d lines thrown in around them, like "warning, the surgeon general advises that listening to the next song is equivalent to 29 orgasms" and then in a slow part of the song, "warning, if you want your asses blown out... stay in the room."

Sounds awesome dude congratulations! The first time is always a tough event. The stone is a very tricky song sometimes especially for your first night so even more props on that. Is a recording available???

i wish... we tried to get a video camera in but we couldnt find one- all we have is a few pictures with a digital camera. Ill work the tenacious d songs online at some point, i have a few recordings of it but im not quite satisfied with them... I'll record the stone sometime in the next few days and post it

Don't feel bad, the first show I played I forgot the entire bridge to my OWN song. Nerves are killer :)
