i was downloading some videos and i came across this acoustic set with Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds and Carlos Santana.
they do two songs that i've never heard before but i think now that i can safely safe that Carlos Santana is not better than Tim Reynolds.
throughout the whole thing Tim pretty much lets Carlos take care of the solos and then they share one in the middle. but the best part is at the end when Santana has this long sol and then tim takes over and blows him away 8)
i don't think its like comparing apples and oranges at all though. i'd say its more like comparing Quincy Carter to Bret Farve, they're both pros...but lol Qunicy Carter is no Bret Farve 8)
*edit they performed Love of My life and JTR

Anyone who says Carlos probably never listened to any of Tim's better stuff. The more I've gotten into the guitar the more I realize how good he is. He doesn't get nearly enough respect for his songwriting. His solo fingerstyle arrangements are really complex and thoughtful.

I'm going to give Santana the benifit of the doubt on that one. He style is much better suited to an electric and Tim was probably a lot more comfortable in that setting. Tim is better though.elijah77jc wrote:i was downloading some videos and i came across this acoustic set with Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds and Carlos Santana.

well santana was playing a classical guitar and the songs had a spanish feel to them so i figured it was right up his alleyMWR wrote:I'm going to give Santana the benifit of the doubt on that one. Carlos is strictly a solo player with bands. Tim can not only solo like an animal, but he can acompany, use effects for subtle backing, and complement anyone he plays with limitlessly.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
