I just replaced the strings on my 12-string Yamaha about a month ago but I noticed this past week that the inntonation on the E-A-D-G strings on the 2nd fret and the B-e strings on the 3 fret has gone whacky. The weird thing is it produces a harsh buzzing and JUST on those strings on those frets. The second I move up or down a fret the buzzing stops and it sounds just fine.
At first I though I might have replaced the bridge saddle incorrectly when I re-strung but it doesn't make any sense why I just started having this problem. Nevertheless I tried re-positioning the saddle and still have the same problem.
I'm really not sure at all what could be causing this problem. If anyone has any idea or any guidance that could help me, I would REALLY appreciate it.
Some info on the guitar:
Like I said, it's a Yamaha 12-string (FG-420) with a Fishman pickup I had installed two years ago. It's well maintained and always kept in a hard shell case when it is not being played.
Again - any help would be really appreciated!

man ive got no clue... i can only offer a couple pieces of advice..
#1 - have it checked out
#2 - dont buy a guitar made by a company that makes everything
i know its not too helpful, but ive never even heard of a problem like yours. hopefully its just one of those things that happens and stops and never happens again. hope everything works out for you kevin.

About Yamaha - they do make everything but, for the money, it's a beautiful guitar with a beautiful sound. I haven't found a Martin or Taylor 12-string that has been able to match it to my satisfaction yet. Call me crazy!

Kevin, I have to tell you: I encountered the same exact problem with my six string Takamine. A decent guitar, cost me $500, no defects at the time of purchase. The action was wonderful, and I am sure yours was too before that dreadful string change. I had the same guage strings on before and after, and my action was totally offset. The guitar neck had not warped one bit.
After talking with many friends and a couple people at local guitar shops, I found it was best to slip little pieces of drum head, yes drum head material, under the bridge saddle. My Takamine is an acoustic electric, and the pickup is powered by the pressure under the saddle. The little pieces of drum head that boosted the strings up just enough for the perfect action had no effect on the pickup's output.
I heard that companies don't always make the "perfect" guitar, especially in terms of action. They sometimes slip those pieces of material, more commonly known as "shims"(sp?), to boost the action to perfection. One would not use paper, because that could crumble. Drum head material seems to fit just fine.
