Hey Hey My My Cover

Unread post by Easy E » Mon Apr 05, 2004 2:26 pm

Hey guys I decided to record this song because its my favorite Neil Young song. I played it in standard because im too lazy to tune down a whole step, so I made it real hard on myself to hit some of the high notes. let me know what you guys think.

I know patience is a virtue, but 35 views and no reply, atleast someone tell me it sucks or the site isnt working.

I've never heard the original but your version was good. The guitar playing was great and the vocals were descent as well. Some things to work on in the future though: You did seem to struggle with those high notes, keep practicing in a higher range. Also, you fell flat a couple times mainly at the end of phrases. If you didn't feel like tuning it down my suggestion would be to capo it higher and sing in a lower octave. That would probably make it more comfortable to sing.
As far as the lack of responses goes, it seems like people take a while to respond to stuff. I try to respond to everything as long as what I wanted to say was already said.
Overall, nice job.
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.

I used the tab on olga.net and figured out a version best suited for me. Its not exactly what he's playing but close enough for people to get an idea of what the song is.

Great Job on the Hey Hey My My, good job with the high vocals as well. I have been playing that a lot myself lately, try playing the intro as the verse and singing along. It really sounds nice.

Try Like a Huricane, great song with a nice intro.

Also liked the Drink the Water cover. Do you have any other JJ covers.

Good job, you sounded a bit like Neil actually...you did struggle sometimes with the high notes and it didnt sound quite as good, but then again neither does Neil sometimes :)

I noticed you dont sing as high on the other songs...did you want to sound like Neil, or did you just naturally sing higher on Hey Hey?

Either way, not bad at all
