There is something seriously wrong with that captain tab...

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

there is no way in Gods green earth that is right, and by some sin if it is, I never, ever would want to play that song how Dave plays it! The way I do it sounds infinitely better, are you sure you have that right kanter? the verse is fine, but that's about it...

I just made this, look at it carefully, in particular the chords that are different than what you play and the G that you are absolutely missing right before the "why should I..." part...it looks like some of your stuff may be typos, but in any event, there are definite mistakes in the tab that is posted on this site

Code: Select all

Dave Matthews Band
"Captain"

intro/verse

e------------------|
B---4--------------|
G---1---4---7---6--|
D---2---1---4---2--|
A---4---2---5---4--|
E-------4---7---5--|

To lead into verse, play first three chords
of intro, then 3rd & 4th chord of this section

e--------------------|
B--------------------|
G---8-------6----9---|
D---4-------7----6---|
A---6-------7---/7---|
E---7---6---5---(0)--|

To Lead into verse, play first three chords of intro

e--------4------------------|
B---7----5--------1-1-------|
G---5----6--------X-X-------|
D---6----6----5---3-2--5-5--|
A---X----4----X---3-3--X-X--|
E---4---------3--------3-3--|

"Why should I..."

e---------------|
B---------------|
G---------------|
D---6----6---6--|
A---4----4---4--|
E---X----5---2--|

You're right Elliot.. I think he made a few typos.. nothing major, just (076900) and the chorus. I wrote this a while ago, using his tab and one that I had previously made.

Crazy

Intro/Verse

e----------------------
b---4------------------
g---1----4----7----6---
d---2----1----4----2---
a---4----2----5----4---
e--------4----7----5---

Chorus

e--------------------
b--------------------
g---8-------6----9---
d---4-------7----6---
a---6-------7----7---
e---7---6---5---/0---

"Why should I..."

e---------------
b---------------
g---------------
d---6---6---6---
a---4---x---x---
e-------5---2---

e--------------------------3---
b---7---7---5---5----1---0---
g--(7)--5---6---5----0---0---
d---4---6---6---5----2---0---
a---x---x---4---3----3---2---
e---7---4-------------3---3---

lovely, that last part is how I originally played it, it sounds right to me and it's just the way I've done it for awhile except for the C/G, but that's a very nice addition...btw, I'm still working on something's missing every once in a blue moon, I've got it down a lot better than the last one and I'm going to watch real hard on sunday to see what he's doing mainly in the chorus, so I'll pass along my results pretty quickly

Just tried this. Perfect. I always thought there was something funky with the tab that was up but couldn't put my finger on it. I always played somewhat my own way. This way sounds the best :)

peace,
Ken
