hey bro not too bad at all. i enjoyed. The guitar was consistently strong throughout the whole song. It almost seems like you are trying to hard in your singing. Just relax and let it flow, everyone has a unique voice that should be voiced loudly.
good luck

Not bad at all.
You should really avoiding stressing your voice like that. It can do long term damage. Best way to avoid it is to not sing like other people.

just listened...great work...vocals were really good, and guitar was very good as well, although it sounds like there is one sour note in the verse. Also, I really understand this talk of trying to sound like Dave too much. It sounded to me that he was just singing the song. I guess from a guitar's standpoint Mave should just play A and G, back and forth during the verse so he's not being a Dave-Wannabe on the guitar either?

nah jason, you're missing the point. its almost like he's trying too hard to emulate his voice. like all the little cracks and stuff.
but yea, dude that was a great cover. i cuold be totally wrong, but is dave all you listen to? i think that may be the problem with the dave-isms. probably not, but it could be. and the beginning verses had a note, as jason said, that sounded wrong. like a semi-tone off i think. just slide all the way up to the five. (i htink thats where it was) but great job. greeeat cover.

Thnx alot guys. Yeah i need to get some more music in my library. I listen to dave all day long. I know its a phase type thing im going through. I tend to do that a lot with music. When i write my own stuff i dont feel that I sound like Dave. I'm going to put one of my songs up then you guys can tell me how it is.
Again, thnx for the input guys, i appreciate it.
thnx jason

Mave...it's "input". Anyway, I really don't think that I am missing the point Mike. My view on the subject is that the kid doesn't try to sound like Dave any more than the rest of them. He sounds fine to me. Definitely room for some development, but one of the better "coverers" on here. So is he gonna listen to someone telling him what to do with his voice that sounds worse than he does?

. That just doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully the kid has enough common sense to evaluate all the "advice" given to him and "from whom" it was given and pick between what he should heed and what he should take with a yawn.

The guitar was really well done.. I wasn't a big fan of the singing though. but thats just my little opinion..
Its like... getting two birds stoned at once. (Ricky-trailor park boys).

Mike, I really hope you don't take it as me saying that he shouldn't listen to you because "you" aren't as good as him. I'm not saying that at all, as I respect you as a musician and what you can do already with your instrument

I was making a general statement. There is not enough true knowledge and experience on these boards for people to go around telling(more like commanding) others what to do with their voice.
In my honest opinion, if this guy hadn't come out and posted one of his first threads "I want to sing exactly like Dave!" that no one would say one thing about him copying Dave.
