Damn Carter!

Unread post by jsgksu » Thu Apr 08, 2004 11:17 am

I was bored so I searched under video files on kazaa for dave matthews band, and I saw the triping billies and say goodbye carter instructional videos and downloaded them. Ive never really seen him play for more than a few seconds, they were fucking amazing, that man can play. I always knew but I guess I didnt really know. But if youre a drummer or just think you might enjoy watching him go dl it and let me know what you think, I dont play drums but I know that shit was bad!

I was backstage at a show last year so I heard the drums the most. Incredible, he blew me away. It's something that's taken for granted until you hear it up close.

A kid in one of my art classes said he got carter's sticks at a concert last summer. I offered 100 dollars a piece and he said no :(

First of all, the sticks is no big deal. In fact, he just buys the ones at the store with his Sig on it. Pretty good sticks, jazz tips with a funk type shaft. Yes, that is a kickass DVD. That is pretty much how I learned all of those fills and such. I am a more visual and listneing drummer then a reading music type drummer. I get it, but with sheet music, I feel too confinded. I suggest getting that video no matter what you play. It is better to understand all the instruments. Most professionals can play another instrument because they want to understand what is going through their head when such and such happens. Better understanding of the BAND. Sorry to say this, but the stuff he plays on the DVD is not at all as good as he is playing now. It must be the fact you are just seeing him, but he plays sooooo much better during the live shows. Remeber, he is playing to what ever jams the CD had. That is not what he is capable of doing.

I seriously doubt somebody that talent needs to pay for his equipment, but I get what you mean. The man is nuts.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.
