John Mayer - No Such Thing.. How to play?
John Mayer - No Such Thing.. How to play?
Hey guys, I'm new to this board as you can see by my whopping 1 post count. =P
I'm trying to play John Mayer - No Such Thing, I can play One Sweet World and Crash, my favourite DMB songs, but this JM song is driving me insane.
I just don't understand how you strum the song?
I can do the intro, but once he starts singing the verse i'm lost.
I've watched videos of him on Conan and Jay Leno and his hands are going at like light speed + 1.
Any pointers??

I love watching him play this song, his hands are going at light speed like you say. I've been practicing this quite a bit recently, and its wicked fun to play and frickin' tough as well. the timing is tricky but you should listen to some acoustic versions, like the remix version is easier to tell the strumming and plus its a little slower which also helps. And to think that this song is one of the easier Mayer songs to play
I tried 83 and St. Patricks Day last night and they were kicking my ass pretty hard. Some of the chords were really cool but also really hard to finger. Dave is easier

good, and you?

they are acurate
As to playing it, it takes a bit to get it down. one of the keys to this song is palm muting the lower e and a strings don't let em ring free. also the chorus can be tricky on the chord changes, they are fast the rythm for the first 3 of the chorus are the hardest to get. I agree this is one of his easier ones too. Try playing neon, good lord that song just ain't right.

yeah, in Jason's "reputable" opinion, it'd be best not to listen to me, so watch out!DmbFanJason wrote:gcom007 wrote:very carefully...mogley wrote:Hey guys, I'm new to this board as you can see by my whopping 1 post count. =P
