almost got satellite

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Unread post by Pickles » Sat Mar 01, 2003 11:37 pm

i asked a friend if rhyme and reason was hard, he said it was kinda like satellite so i started learning satellite about a half hour ago.. im having a little trouble remembering it but thatll come with time.. the main problem is the E4 A6 D8 A4 D6 notes... they keep messing me up... at least itll be a good song to bust out and make people wish they could play like you lol

actually once you learn it you'll have a two for one because you'll have learned "after her" as well. I love playing it that way cause people are like "that's familiar I wonder where I've heard it?"

after her is the song satellite evolved from. basically it's the satellite music but faster and more percussive and most of the lyrics are different.

lyrics:

Sun will shine, no matter what I do, sun shines bright now with you,
what a wonderful thing for you to do
Moon shines bright, reflections in her eyes, a finer place you could not find

winter's cold, the spring erases
and the calm, away by the storm is chasin'
everything good needs replacin,
hope all these changes, happen with you.

In my life, never before, have I a lover so adored
her eyes, her hair, everything she says
my delight, can tickle me inside, touch my heart touch my mind

no matter what's inside, I'll give to her
no need to satisfy my hunger, lost in her
and while I spend these hours, five senses reelin'
with biggest steps I'm runnin
after her I will run.

winter's cold, the spring erases
and the calm, away by the storm is chasin'
everything good needs replacin,
hope all these changes, happen with you.

after her....
after her...

I tried to use comma's to give an idea how the rythm goes.

Good thing it's not played on a 12-string.

Although I actually had fun playing Billies on a 12. That worked out really well. Haven't tried satellite.

I agree, Pilot. Tripping Billies rocks on a 12. The Stone is entertaining as well.

to keep from stretching on satellite so much i play E4 A6 G3 A4 D6 instead of D8. samething but im planted in a pretty good place. man, id love a 12 string. i dont pick that much, im a heavy strummer so a 12 would be super sweet. i bet they are a beeyotch to keep tuned right all the time. oh, and changing strings is not my favorite thing to do in the world either.

yeah I used to play Satellite that way for quite a long time actually. I still do from time to time for shits and giggles. It's the best way to play it really if you don't like to stretch. I'd love to have a big ass jumbo Gibson 12-string. Damn those things are nice and loud :)
good, and you?
