hmmm, dont expect to get much going in with just two guys, chances are they will be looking for the full ensembles, even if you are better than the othersjuineaux wrote:Im doing one of these things things for the first time, anyone have some advice/suggestions? i played at a battle of the bands a few weeks ago and there were just two of us. but it was me (guitar and vocals) and a drummer.
we did very well. so you can do well with only two people but i think you really need drums to win.
but you can still do very well if its just guitars. only advice that i'd give would be (if you don't have drums) to play songs that the audience can really get into. maybe do something with a good beat and clap your hands at the audience telling them to do it too. you're biggest challenge without drums is to really get the audience engaged in the music. and fist pumps (like in warehouse) or clapping hands is a good way to do that.
good luck with that. let us know how it goes
what songs are you doing?

here was our set at the battle:
the river(original)
mona lisa(original)
incohearant(original)
spirit world(original)
river rat jimmy(kelly joe phelps cover)
I need a Woman(Jeff foucault cover)
Given Myself(original)
shes always on my mind(original)
troublemaker(original)
It sucks that we lost the battle, but good news actaully came out of it. The people in the student government really like our stuff more and want us to play some really nice gigs at the university next fall. So I guess it wasnt a total loss-
