Song Keys: Let You Down and Spoon
Song Keys: Let You Down and Spoon
Hey all, quick question...let you down is in Bm, yes? I'm pretty sure on that one...but spoon seems to be in Em for most of the song, and then there's that E chord followed by the first inversion (with another G#)...so if I were to solo over this song, should I just change the keys?

just change keys to adjust for the switch, or just play arpeggiosBuck23 wrote:Hey all, quick question...let you down is in Bm, yes? I'm Josh: sometimes known as Steve
Both of them are in Em.
There are such thing's as mini key centers (not a technical term). A progression can momentarily switch to another key and then switch back.
Always look at the first and last chord. The key is almost always one of these chords, particularly the ending chord as the song has to resolve for the ending duh. If you listen to Spoon you'll notice that Em is the first and last chord. I know LYD has an Em for the first chord but I cant remember if he ends it on Em. Oh well

yeah 57x6xx is an A, which means it has a C# note in it (the 6 on the G string)...so should I consider this a key change for one chord of the song? also the last chord of each verse is in bm, but when you play it and end on bm it sounds more resolved than when you end on the em...so I'm still thinking Bm...
