Dancing Nancies intro help???
Dancing Nancies intro help???
For the intro in Dancing Nancies, i cannot get the hammer ons down. This part:
E:-0--------2--
B:-0--------2--
G:-------------
D:-------------
A:-------------
E:-------------
Does anyone have any tips to make it sound good? I can play it, but i just can't get it down clean, and quickly. Any tips would be appreciated. I am guessing all it will take is repetition.

I'm not real sure what you mean. I don't think there are any hammer on's in Dancing Nancies. The part you have tabbed out is the fill. That part is tricky though just make sure you look at the finger chart for the song and just practice it, that is probably the hardest part of that song.

I know that this tab is technically correct, but the 2nd fret sounds too low to me. I usually play it at the 3rd fret, which to me sounds closer to the sound that DMB has. This is what I mean (if its not already obvious):
Code: Select all
E:-0------3--
B:-0------3--
G:-----------
D:-----------
A:-----------
E:-----------

the way i play it, i hit the bass note, mute, bass note, mute, then play the thing youre talking about. i use that bit alternately throughout the entire song, just so i dont get bored. the tab you have just has
-0--2
-0--2
but i play the open bit 4 times, using alternating up and down strokes. i kind of start that thing slow, then pick up the pace on the strokes and hammer on the 2.

i don't ever really play that little fill. i think that you can get a just as good as sound with just tactfully strumming down through the strings after the G and F# bass notes. i've never had a problem getting a good sound out of that song, i always figured that was a fill that tim always added. nancies is a pimp ass song though. i used to think it was a boring song to play but after i learned it all the way through i play it all the time. another song i've learned to love is drive in drive out.

i think you meant to say that I was "F*^$ing tone deaf" instead of "F*^$ tone deaf"
and after playing it at the 2nd fret for a few days, i realized that the 3rd fret is too high a note and now i play it at the 2nd fret. just wanted to make that clear so you didn't lose any sleep over it.
as an aside, there is really no reason to insult the other people that post messages on the boards for no reason. this isn't exactly a controversial topic afterall.
thanks,
sean

Good point....no more bashing......anyway....when your doing it as a fill(as opposed to when he does it when ending a verse) try hammering on real fast at the end. It's not easy to get it but I will try to get it up...peaceelixer wrote:winston:
