Dave's tunings
How did someone figure out the tunings Dave uses? Like the raised b tuning and the strings used? How do you figure out what each strings is tuned to? I've always wondered how this was figured out. Anyone know?

Got buy 2 sets of new Extra Light strings
then go throw out the Low E string on one set. Proceed with stringing you guitar with the left over 5 strings starting with what is typically the "A" string on top in place of the low e. Then go down the line 54321, at this point open the second set of strings and grab the "b string and place it at the end. So the arrangement of strings is 543212. then tune to.

If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But ONLY if you're serious about adopting the vulture.
Re: Dave's tunings
Raised B is pretty common and is also reffered to a Nashville tuning. If you watch Dave play it you would notice two things: he would switch guitars, and he would play open position chords. You put two and two together and presto. There are people like Nick Drake who use weird suspended tunings and obviosly it's get harder to pick out.the floodzone wrote:How did someone figure out the tunings Dave uses? i thought nashville was like standard except G, B, and E strings were tuned an octave up
my memory is probably serving me wrong, but i thought that was what one of the guitars was tuned to in the stones' 'wild horses'

Re: Dave's tunings
I get the switching guitars part. That gives away a lot of DMB songs now. But just by watching the chords someone could tell that it was raised b? Thanks for the info about it being a Nashville tuning.MWR wrote:Raised B is pretty common and is also reffered to a Nashville tuning.
