Nope, 'tis true. As chronicled in Step Into the Light, Dave's future wife Ashley brought Ben and Gwyneth into the Plant, where BTCS was being recorded. Dave had a draft of the lyrics, and played the song with those lyrics for the two of them. They both gushed about how much they liked the song, and Dave (as he later said in an interview) "knew he had to change the lyrics right away." The next set he wrote stuck.unccharlotte07 wrote:Sounds like a load of bull to me, but that's just my opinion, I suppose it's possible. Oh, and has anyone else heard what sounds like a studio version of #41? I downloaded one off kazaa one time that's kinda bad quality, but doesn't sound like it's played in front of an audience.whip3512 wrote:Speaking of DT, I heard a story about how that song wound up on BTCS on the 41 lyric archive site. Probably bull, but it goes like this. DMB was working on the album and Dave's girlfriend brought her two friends Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow to the studio. They weren't gonna put Dreaming Tree on the album, but those two really liked it. They praised it a lot, and maybe to some degree, helped persuede them to put it on the album. Sounds bogus, but does anyone know if there's truth to this?

Well, that's the thing, idk. It's pretty bad quality, but it definitely wasn't played in front of an audience, unless they just weren't cheering, which I find hard to believe. So I would assume it was a demo or something? Anyone have any clues?dmbmikee wrote:your saying #40 was done as a studio version?

Actually it's 128k. It sounds like about the same quality as the songs from the Lillywhite Sessions. Actually, the name of the file is "#40 - Lillywhite Sessions". I know that it is not one of the ones listed in the accepted Lillywhite Sessions track list, but I suppose it could have been recorded at about the same time.dmbmikee wrote:Hmmmm? Maybe it was SBD with a really low bitrate. What is the bitrate like 64k?
