Carter
Stefan
Dave
and boyd and leroi are tied for last..
I think carter is obviously the best, stefan was known as a bass prodigy when he was a kid. Dave has a huge musical background and i think he is a great guitarist, rythematicly. Boyd is a classicly trained violinest, and whatever you guys say, he's a great violinest. Leroi is an awesome sax player, but i have no idea how good because he's really the only sax player i've ever really listened to

Carter
Dave
Leroi
Stefan
Boyd (Boyd is two more steps down the ladder when he opens his mouth during a song.)

Carter
of course carter goes on top, i'd say he's one of the best in the world 8)

Leroi
some of his stuff is amazing, just listen to a good version of warehouse

Dave
i just can't put stefan above dave. while he is good, there is nothing outstanding about his playing. dave may just be a rhythm guitarist but but i'd say he's pretty freakin' innovative :)

Stefan
i'm not taking away from stafan's skill though, he is pretty dang good, but i've always looked at his playing as if he were playing lead guitar more than a bass. it's kinda hard to explain but i've seen MANY bass players who put him to shame.

Boyd
he's good and his playing is "different" i'll give him that but he plays a VIOLIN! and i've NEVER heard him play anything beautiful. and you can;t really say that he can't play like that because he is in a rock band, because if you check out a group call the David Crowder Band you'll see what a violinist in a rock back can really do.

Who the hell improvises in that band? Very rarely will you hear an improv jam just amongst the members.
LeRoi does, dude! Unless I just know absolutely nothing about sax.
Yes the band does Jam out on songs but it's typically the same Jam. Theres rarely any improv jams.

I've heard from a few exp. saxaphonists, and they tell me that it is extremely hard to improv with that instrument. Now, I have no idea how much truth that holds, but... :)

To me DMB is not a Jam band (which emcompasses alot of Improv Jams).

I bet it would be dman hard to improv on a sax or violin..

Guitar, Bass & Drums seem to be the easiest to deviate from the supposed rythym & then jump back on it. IMHO

for gods sake people, its easy to imrovise over a song if youve heard it 3000 times, they wouldnt have anything to solo over if dave didnt write the damn songs...

-LeRoi
-Dave
-Stefan
-Boyd

Dave is the voice of the band and could not be replaced. Carter is amazing. LeRoi is a bit subdued but solid most of the time. Stefan doesn't do much but certainly doesn't do anything wrong. Boyd...well... I've made my feelings about Boyd known.

This is rediculous. You guys are picking apart the very thing that gave you so much joy. I don't see the point of rating them all when Dave is obviously the best.

Seriously though. It's like a spoiled kid who throws his posicle on the ground because it's not the right color.

It is called the "Dave Matthews" Band

Did anyone hear how out of tune Boyd was at the Grammy's?
