1. Carter
2. Stefan
3. Dave

3. Leroi --

I never thought Stefan was talented. I've seen local bassists blow him away

wow-stefan. I've always thought he was badass, but i don't play bass, and don't know many bass players so i guess i don't have much to compare him too.

if ur just talking about the instrument, not lyrical genius or songwriting, then dave has got to be at the bottom..hes not up there song after song improvising like everyone else is...u gotta have at least carter and leroi above him, probably stefan, and boyd..well...i dont know anything about violin

Who the hell improvises in that band? Very rarely will you hear an improv jam just amongst the members.

Yeah, I would agree with that. If you're just talking about how well they play their instruments, I would say:

Carter
LeRoi
Boyd
Stefan
Dave

Stefan has some pretty awesome bass solos sometimes, though. I wish he would do more of those cause those rock.

LeRoi does, dude! Unless I just know absolutely nothing about sax.

yea leroi solos a lot, boyd does but they get a lil repetitive, but hes still doin it, example tripping billies jam...stefan does too, you just cant tell because they turn the bass way down , but if you watch him in videos hes doing some crazy shit that we dont notice, which is a shame...and carters just awesome so he gets props

I don't think Dave is the most talented, but I wouldn't say he's the least. I don't really know anything about the other instruments so I can't really say. But look at Daves older songs, they have some real cool rhythms... Like Warehouse, Typical Situations, LIOG, etc. Pretty much anything pre-everyday has some cool shit. Not to say that everything from everyday on is crap.

Im not a big fan of Boyd (but he is still essential to DMB)

So you're saying that everything from Busted Stuff is? lol

Edit: Ignore that statement. I missed that little word "on".

yep, say what you will about dave, but my argument is he's a good rhythm guitarist, you'd have to classify him in that catagory, not just "guitarist"

carter is just the shit. hands down.
leroi knows a WHOLE lot of jazz and he's a pretty good soloist

... I'll have to agree w/ yall. My music knowledge is limited, but I manage to learn while I can. I once talked to my uncle about this same subject. He's got a masters in music theory/appreciation, and while I've gotten him to like DMB more and more, he's still much smarter than I am when it comes to these things.
