I totally agree with your statement MWR...The main reason this site(as well as all the message boards) was established was to help people. Help them learn and get better. We have all levels of musicians here. From people that picked up a guitar like a week ago, to people that have beeen playing for 10+ years. I have heard people over there tell someone that posts their music to just give up and try doing another hobby; and "they'll never make it".(only after they had been playing for a few years, and the kid was like 16!). That's the kind of crap I'm talking about over at the bridge. Can you imagine if someone told Dave that and he listened to that person? Because we all know how much Dave has improved since the early 90s. It would be catastrophic! Anyway, yes, I totally agree with what you are saying, but when we DO have the power to kick that kind of insanity out of our site, we should exert that power! ...Now, I'm not saying that everyone has to be all "happy and giddy" around here. For instance if you do have something negative to say about someone's music that you think they need to practice or whatever, you must say so; otherwise you are doing the individual that wants critiquing a disservice. But anything else stated is just a representation of the "critiquer's" attitude or personality.MWR wrote:It seems there are a lot of bastards over there but if your truly trying to make it in the music biz you have to learn how to cope with the fact that people will hate you for whatever reason. Thats the hard part.

I came over here from Nancies. I just wanted to talk about DMB a little bit, but I really wanted to talk guitar. That musicians forum sucks. On top of that, a lot of the people there are snobs. I got flamed for stupid shit, like "Dude, you don't know how the skat improve Dave did on (enter song here) during (enter date of show) line for line?! You're no fan!" I really like the folks here. Y'all are great. For reals.

True dat. A lot of the reason why I come here is to be inspired by people who have dedicated themselves to playing music no matter what their experiance level is. Whenever I feel a little burned out on the instrument I can come here and get excited again. It's really important to me considering I don't have any music fanatics to talk to in person. Most of the people I know don't have a clue what it's like to make music and they take it for granted. It's not like that around here.[/i]DmbFanJason wrote:I totally agree with your statement MWR...The main reason this site(as well as all the message boards) was established was to help people. I have always said, even though most people don't seem to take my adivce, but when someone comes here that is only here to destroy our peace, just ignore and pretend that he isn't here. Do not read or acknoledge his existence. Think of it like the Simpsons Halloween special when the advertisments come to life, just pay no attention, they have no fun, and they go away.
So, I again advise to just simply ignore when any decitful person comes on, and they will leave when they see no one is even giving him/her a glance at their first word of their post. I still say that is the best way to go.

Great advice! One of the oldest tricks in the book. But how do you know it's a he and not a she?

but then we have to clean up.dmbmikee wrote:Or just kill them
But seriously, the most effective method is ignorance, and just don't give him any voice. Just let it be like the big giant donout hodling guy falling over dead because Homer is being turned away, and he falls dead.
So, ignorning, the asshole's worst fear.
