Singing/playing problems

Unread post by Boyd » Sun Feb 23, 2003 7:26 pm

When I play any song it's really hard for me to sing it at the same time cause I try to think about the words to sing and then I mess up with the guitar or I try to remember how to play it and I forget the words...... or uh somethin like that. anyway how can I fix this

Practice practice practice , thats the key to everything :) when you practice alot , the guitar part becomes what you can call , automated , and then you think about what to sing :)

Keep practicing and it will reveal itself :)

Or maybe Spoon, I haven't tried it, but it sounds like daves strumming matches the vocals.

Some people say humming the song works...i personally try to play along with the song on cd which not only helps me with singing the song but strumming it as well...

the best thing to do is work on your timing, try to line up each vocal with your point in the guitar part. try playing it slow for a while too and gradually build up to the correct tempo.

i've only been playing since september...is that reasonable to not be able to do it yet? i can play a lot of stuff cause i play every day.....my favorite is jimi thing even though it doesn't sond *quite* like dave. :-p

i can almost sing christmas song....but, it takes SO much concentration that it is not fun and i don't really feel like i am doing anything artistic, it's more like i am taking a midterm or something....

sigh....
