Bassist problem

Unread post by Boyd » Sun Feb 23, 2003 10:19 pm

My bassist in my band is my best friend but he never practices bass....I dont think he's picked it up in 3 months and he's not very good....I dont wanna kick him out though cause he might get mad or somethin and that wouldnt be good.....so what should I do?

Just tell him how you feel about it(not to sound gay). Just tell him that you don't think he's progressing, and if he doesn't, you guys can't get better as a band. Just an idea, but I've never been in a band so my opinion might not be the greatest.

Yeah he's probably going to be pissed, whether he shows it or not. I'd just tell him flat out that you're interested in getting better, and if he doesnt want to make a commitment then thats cool, but youre going to have to find someone else. Thats sort of a subtle way of saying "you're suckin it up right now."

the exact same thing happened to me with my bassist
we had to write his bass riffs for him cuz he couldnt do jack shit
he never practiced, and so on

we basically just stopped calling him to jam
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."
