Help with "Baby"

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Help with "Baby"

Unread post by unccharlotte07 » Mon Feb 09, 2004 10:33 pm

Can anybody help me with the verse in "Baby"? I know the notes, I just don't know what rhythm they're supposed to be played in. The only version I've ever heard is on "Some Devil" and I can't hear Dave playing over that orchestra.

C'mon, nobody? Did anybody go to a Dave and Friends concert and hear it played and know how it goes?
When Jesus Christ was nailed to his tree
Said "oh, Daddy-o I can see how it all soon will be
I came to shed a little light on this darkening scene
Instead I fear I spill the blood of my children all around"

I don't know how helpful this is, but I usually try to mirror the rhythm of the guitar with the rhythm of dave's voice - especially for thhe "ship in a bottle set sail" part - it seems like the guitar part sort of goes as dave's voice goes, so maybe trying to match up the rhythm with the voice might help. that said, i suck at this song, so i might just be pulling this from out my ass, but i tried :)
