A bit ago I decided to learn "lifelines" by Mayer. Well, three days and about 10 blisters later, I have a cover. This is probably the hardest song i've tried to cover, and it shows because i mess up a couple times, but nothing too apparent, i think

. I wanted to give this track the feel of excactly how I would play it if it was live. Meaning one track, no touch ups on the recording. I'm interested if you think this would sound good live after a little more practice. I have wanted to play this song ever since I first heard it and I finally think I might have that chops, well you be the jury. Thanks ahead of time for your input!!

Once again you've not disappointed
The vocals were on for the most part but IMO they need to have more of a triplet feel if you know what i mean. And i think you struggled on the scat bit at the end.
The guitar part just need practice and that chorus is a bugger to get down with my small hands.

The guitar is off in the beginning, I think the guitar rhythm overall is on track though especially once you got into the first verse. The vocals lag behind A LOT though. Your voice isn't bad overall tone wise, it sounds very different from John so you won't have much of a problem with sounding too much like him. THAT IS A MAJOR PLUS. Another thing I noticed is you went off key quite a bit, I'd say it's mostly because you weren't sure how you wanted to handle it vocally. I tend to experiment when I start out with a song as well so don't take that in a harsh manner. You are on your way to a decent cover, just get the vocals down more than anything, maybe try click track to help ya out... and then it would be a decent live cover song imo. Hope that helps some.

Ya, after relistening to the track i realize where i went out of rythym and off key. It was due to the fact that I was concentrating on the guitar too much and lost track of the vocals. I think i'll repost this one in a few weeks once I have it down better.
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.
