exactly my point, your point makes no sense. it just follows an elitist fanboy viewBeauford33 wrote:he just isnt part of the original 5. I mean, if you think about, all the members of DMB are extremely tight nit. They are so close. I think that is why they jam so damn well. I just think DMB is about the original members.

i think hes just getting at the fact that DMB was a tightly knit, established group before butch ever came along... that doesnt necessarily mean that he should or shouldnt be in, but that group of 5 is probably tighter than anyone else could be with them.. all those days touring in a shitty van and so many years together- i dont know if you could ever add someone to that- plus butch doesnt always tour with them, im sure he has his reasons... if they wanted to add him to "the band" they would have done it by now
either way hes great and i love it when he plays with them

i am a huge fan of the piano, and i think more songs should have the piano in it, or have it play a bigger roll. i don't care about the 'official dmb roster', but butch is very much apart of the band. just yesterday, i was listening to where are you going from central park. the begining of that song is orgasmic because of butch. i just listened to the first 30 seconds over and over. i say, the more piano, the better.

Wow did I get in on this conversation late...
Ok everyone is wondering why Butch is not in the band. I read an article that Dave was interviewed in and the guy asked him if Butch would become a member of the band anytime soon. Daves response was no he would not because of the same reasons that you guys have mentioned. He is not a member of the original 5 and they share a bond that is more special than any "new" person could be a part of. He goes on to say that Butch is definately part of the family and that it is not a personal thing but that the first 5 are the band and always will be the band. Im too lazy to find the article right now but there is some place that has a huge DMB faq and if im not mistaken the article is mentioned in it. Hope that helps.

If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But ONLY if you're serious about adopting the vulture.
