I want to see butch take on more of a role. Example: Colplay; Clocks. Just for one song, alot of piano. I love that sound.

I don't know about i-am-me, but I just don't think he really fits in with the band. Of course some of his stuff is great, and he seems like a great piano/keyboard player (I don't know b/c I don't play myself). I don't really like some of the Central park CD because there's so much Butch. I think Peter Griesar was doing some great stuff with the band, until he quit, but I don't think they need a piano player.

... Butch is an asset to the band, I think a lot of the bands enrgy and sound would deplete if all of a sudden Butch no longer played with them. He gives them a more complete and ...ballsy(? :lol:

) sound. Thats what I think...

I also think they don't add him officially in the band because of Peter Griesar... I mean I know how Peter didn't want to stay in the band because of the constant touring across the U.S., but I think they don't add Butch out of courtesy. And thats not the only reason, like someone else said, he doesn't fit in with the band as much.

If he didn't fit in the band perfectly I don't think he wouldn't have been with them as long as he has.

I think he adds to the band, but I don't think he fits "perfectly". But I mean who knows, maybe they want to add him to the band, but maybe Butch doesn't want to be tied down to one band, always having to tour with them, you know what I mean? How do we know that the choice to leave Butch out of DMB is really the band's choice?

well yea...like they were saying, i don't think he adds much to the band. i don't htink that the 5 of them need to add a piano. i think they do just fine the 5 of them, maybe timmy in there, or other guests like the flecktones, but a piano is just not really....well...appropriate? i dunno, can't find the word. i just don't think a piano is neccessary.

don't get me wrong though! he's obviously damn talented, he just doesn't fit.

i dont see what you have against the piano. honestly, i would've hated Central Park if it wasn't for him. he's the only reason i got that dvd. i would take his playing over boyd's or dave's any day

he can't not be in the band, remember on the central park concert? he's introducing the band and dave's all "...thats my good friend butch taylor on the keyboard.." and dave just let just anyone in the band :wink:
