most of your tuners have a b (flat) key...if you press it once, it will tune down a half step...press twice for a full step
or if you have an old school tuner, fret the first fret of each and tune those to EADGBE or whatever you're tuning to
or play it in standard

does capoing first work? like when you tighten it, doesn't the capo interfer? the way i would do it is just find an Eb (6th fret A sting) and tune your low e to that. then just do the 5th fret thing to tune the rest. (5 on E is an A, 5 on A is a D, 5 on D is a G, 4 on G is a B, 5 on B is an E)

It all depends on what song you really want to play. I avoid tuning down a half step by playing in standard tuning, I just play up a fret. Instead of playing, for example, 3554xx, you would play 2443xx. Problem solved
Last Stop is played down a half step, and I just play it in regular tuning, and I play Staind - Outside in standard tuning as well, cause that is also tuned down a half step. So there ya go
My 2 cents
