gravedigger chord

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

gravedigger chord

Unread post by Thomas » Tue Feb 17, 2004 12:32 pm

i've had suspicions that the Bb in the bridge of gravedigger (ring around the rosies) isn't right but every single freakin' video i've had of it cuts away when he does that chord. well i finally saw it on the aol sessions video and its not X13331 although it is somewhere around there, does anyone know what it is?

*sorry, i'm kinda a perfectionist with this stuff.

Dave plays those type II bar chords with his pinky and first fingers -- not his third and first fingers. Sometimes it looks like he is playing only x13xxx, but he is really playing x133xx -- he frets the "33" part with his pinky. I usually just use my third finger though.

well i still think its the easiest song to play and i could always play the Bb just fine, it just always annoyed me that i could never see that chord, because i was sure i saw it different once.

Definitely worth learning, very easy strumming pattern, and relatively easy chords to make. I would highly recomend it :-D

I watch that Charlie Rose video a lot and that has some great shots of his fret hand. You can clearly see on that video that he is playing the B that way. I've tried to play it like that and it makes for a smoother transition to it from the G chord before, but I can't fret the D string enough to make it sound good!! So I use my third finger.
