Pinch Harmonics/Squealies?

Anyone know how to do these? I found a tutorial but still can't get get the sound.

I didn't watch the video, but the key (for me anyway) is finding the right amount of pick and flesh of your thumb to put on the string. It's really hard to explain, but experiment with hanging the fleshy part of your thumb over the edge of the pick and try different parts along the string. The lower frets (around 2 to 7) work well for pinch harmonics. And lots of distortion helps too.

Yeah, I figured it might have something to do with that. So when you're playing do you bring your pick in when you're going to do a squealy, and then shift it back out when you're going back to strumming?

Like when I'm strumming I find more pick exposing gives me more flexibility with strumming and chops, but when I need to pick individual strings I'll bring the pick in just a bit. It just feels unnatural to bring it in so far like that though...

i get good pinch harmonics if i pick with my index finger. i dont even really try for it, it just happens naturally sometimes.
i hold my index finger and thumb together like im holding a pick, but im really not. then i pluck the string right where the nail and the flesh meet. i play that way almost exclusively, i find that i get the best tone out of my guitar when playing like that. sometimes i have to go back to using a pick if i rub it raw though.

I don't really bring it in, I just hang my thumb over the tip of the pick so it makes contact with the string (along with a little of the pick, too). Normally when picking regularly my thumb is somewhere over the middle of the pick, but when doing PHs I bring my thumb in. So I don't really bring the pick in more than I would, it's my thumb that comes in. You just have to find that sweet spot where it happens.
